Happily, I found J&S Heating and Cooling (Stu and his son Duncan) to do the replacement. First, J&S are an authorized Carrier shop, which means they are installing highly reliable equipment from a trusted manufacturer. Second, I can see why Carrier entrusts Stu to represent their brand in this area. He is knowledgeable and friendly, patiently answering all questions from engineers like myself. Stu's communication, professionalism, and attention to detail in the installation were top-notch. From the clean condensate plumbing and ductwork to the careful dressing of thermostat wiring, no detail was overlooked during the installation. They left the space cleaner than they found it. J&S's Pricing was also very competitive. I contacted three local HVAC companies, and Stu's pricing was completely reasonable and transparent. He even provided options for AC replacement only, and spoke honestly with me about the pros and cons of delaying the furnace installation. No sales, just a knowledgeable guy answering questions so I could make a decision. It makes a big difference that this is a local family business. I had J&S quote replacing my boiler (age 19 years) in October 2024 with the intent of hopefully getting a couple of years more out of it before it shit the bed. March of 2025 it started throwing all kinds of errors so i reached out to J&S to replace. I told them I was out of heat and hot water and they were there to help. Price had barely changed from the October quote and they got the job done within a week. These guys are easy to work with and super accommodating. They were always very responsive, and addressed our issues.
